skimmel Posted November 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want to buy an Invisible Shield LCD protector for my DLux-4. They don't have them specifically for this, but do have them for the panasonic LX3. For anyone who has both, are the LCDs *exactly* the same size/shape (e.g., bevels, etc)? Thanks. nippa Posted November 19, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 19, 2008 You may have had success with a shield in the past but I've just got back from a long trip to a number of Tropical Locations and even shielding the LCD doesn't help. When the sun is strong only an optical viewfinder will do. Recording beach scenes in Fiji was hard work

Recording beach scenes in Fiji was hard work I agree that an optical viewfinder is ideal, and I really miss one, but remember that the PanaLeicas have a "Power LCD" setting that boosts the brightness considerably. I have just come back from a week in Cyprus and, while not perfect, it was certainly usable in bright light. Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted November 19, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2008 Which is why the LX2/Dlux-4 is interesting as it can take a viewfinder in the hotshoe. I may buy one once ACR support arrives from Adobe.
skimmel Posted November 19, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted November 19, 2008 Here u go skimmel. A pic of my LX3 n DL4 side by side. They're exactly the same. Thanks. Just to clarify for other questions about shielding light - the "shield" I'm referring to is just a clear lcd protector. I have a smilar one on my M8 and it doesn't seem to alter visibility on the lcd.

I tried it on my D-Lux4. Horrible useless thing it is. The anti glare makes everything look fuzzy and out of focus. Took me a few minutes to figure out y my shots were all OOF when they were actually sharp. I've peeled it off n gone back to the crystal clear type.
