I am new here:hello everybody.:D

I am equipped with one 1DMKIII and of several optics, but I want a smaller and lighter camera. Digilux 2 wouldbe convenient for me ( digilux 3 is too big).

I look d2 second-hand on ebay . prices go from 480€ to 900€ .

What is the reasonable value of this second-hand camera?

Welcome to the forum! Digilux 2 is a good choice and a look/search through the posts will confirm.

Leica dealer stock (2nd hand obviously) here in UK is generally around 450GBP, provided of course there is one in stock!

Thanks for your quick answer:)

Hi Aerospace! Welcome to the forum!

I would say that 600-700 Euros are a reasonable price for a Digilux 2 that is in good-shape. For a camera in mint condition, the price could be even higher.

You will not regret it!

Regards, Peter.

As someone who as bought 4 of them in 30 days, I can tell you that $US $650 is in the ballpark. If you search eBay, you need to pay close attention to what is included in the sale as accessories can drive up the price.

Additionally, you need to be sure if it is an early model that the sensor has been replaced.

One place to watch is popflash.com - they tend to get a couple of refurbished cameras per week. And, those come with a 1 year warranty. They sell for just under $700... some will be "cleaner" condition.

It's a phenomenal camera.

I second this. I purchased mine from them earlier this year for US$677 and I could scarcely tell that it wasn't new and unused.

hello, and welcome.

a few weeks ago, i saw at least 5 used (sensor re-replaced) digilux 2's at KEH website (Atlanta) going for $600US - $700US.

they are all gone today !

the camera is a hot deal at that price.

and now i think i know who is buying up all the world's used D2's .... Mr. John Thawley ;>)))

I bought one off Ebay from Popflash just over a week ago and paid a bit more than what other's have paid by buying from them (747 usd). The camera is in mint condition and would not be any cleaner if purchased brand new. It would be impossible to tell the difference between a new camera and this refurbished camera. The camera also has a one year Leica warranty and the sensor has been changed. It also came with Photoshop Elements 5.

What do you think about the description of this bid, actually on ebay :

Here we have a Leica Digilux 2 purchased in the end of 2004 from a camera shop in Melbourne, Australia. The camera has been well loved, and taken care for. During the end of last year, its CCD sensor was faulty, so we send it back to the dealer and got its CCD sensor replaced. It turned out that this is a common problem with this camera.

The reason for selling was because we've got a Nikon DSLR now (the mighty D700), so there is no need for an extra camera.

It comes with everything that were originally included in the box: user manuals, software CDs, cables, battery and charger. This camera will come with a 1GB SD card as a bonus. Oh, even though the lens hood is not in the following pictures, its definitely inside the box :)

There, it is more annoying, isn't it? (it's the same bid)

Q : Hi, Is there some scratches on the body ?

R : Hi, there are some micro scratches on the screen, and I think (but I am not sure) that I can see some dusts or marks inside the lens.

Very minor scratches on the LCD should not be a problem and will not even show up if you cover it with a clear screenprotector. Dust and very minor scratches inside a lens will not have any impact on image quality. The dust might have been introduced when the sensor was changed.

FWIW my D2 has a bit of dirt on the inside of the lens as well. I've found that almost all of my zooms are susceptible to this because of the way the elements move back and forth when zooming tend to affect the internal air pressure of the lens and draw / expel some air. I'm amazed that the seller is savvy enough to notice and comment on it
