Leica G10

I still have a G7 which sits atop my dry cabinet (in which my serious cameras are housed). I grab it when I need a quick jpeg snap of something. Or a movie. The G7 doesn't do RAW. At one time I believed that if it did RAW it would be the ideal compact. The G9 and G10 have proved that theory to be wrong. They're too damn big for what they deliver.

If I want to go small and light I still haven't found a compact that I'd grab in preference to my M8.

Now, why can't the M8 make a decent cup of cappucino, anyone know? Come on Leica!!

DUDE!!!! It's right there under the "Slide Show" setting in the Main Menu screen...

Check out the new panasonic G1. It is small, very fast and IQ comparable to M8.

The following quote is one I don't understand: "One of reason I got into M8 is so I don't have to think about having a backup camera when I don't want lug around big guy (dSLRs)."

One could say just the opposite:

It's funny how Leica fanatics talk about other cameras being too heavy and bulky to carry around without thinking about what they are carrying. The M8 with the three main lenses I carried plus a spare battery weighed:

M8 - 545g

2- batteries - 92g

50/2 Cron - 240g

90/2 Cron - 500g

28/2.8 - 180g

TOTAL 1,557g

D90 620g

18-55 lens 390g

2-batteries 160g

TOTAL 1,170g

Or Using Primes

28/2.8 210g

50/1.8 155g

85/1.8 380g

TOTAL 1,525g

G1 W Lens + Battery 630g

Therefore when it comes to weight, the M8 actually loses to the D90 or the G1.
