intex Posted November 12, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) As a previous unhappy D-Lux 3 user (I just sold mine), I have been looking for a new backup camera, small pocket sized (which the Leica is for me). Are there any reasons why I shouldn't get the new Leica? Money is not so much an object as picture quality is. I do not want to deal with a Ricoh and little support, and other users have scared me boff the Sigma D1/D2. I can not think of anything better than the DLux 4 ? Hopefully it will be a noticeable difference in PQ over the DLux 3?? Are there any new comparablen cameras comning out, or are most announced at next years Photokino? Thanks, alot of posts, but I am a bit gun shy from the last one.

MarkM6 Posted November 13, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2008 how about get the Dlux 4 now and Olympus Micro 4/3s in the near future Olympus develops Micro Four Thirds camera: Digital Photography Review Why would one be excited about this four-third when SIGMA already fit a large sensor in their DP1 and DP2? I miss my Nikon 28Ti more now than ever because I've been seeing these freaking fancy feature-packed point-n-shoot cameras with more pages of menu than my Operating System. That being said; I bought the D-Lux 4 and I like the picture quality for a point-n-shoot but far from what I want. Then again; how can I expect more from a Leica with 3-digits price tag! P.S. I wish the focus mode selection switch has stronger "detent" to go into the "Manual" mode so it has to be deliberate to go into the full manual focusing. P.P.S. I love the red dot. I use it as a grip using the tip of my middle finger.
herbet Posted November 13, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2008 Why would one be excited about this four-third when SIGMA already fit a large sensor in their DP1 and DP2? Maybe because it looks awesome and the DP1 failed to deliver in all other categories except IQ.
