cfc247 Posted November 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well it finally arrived. Although I haven't had a chance to take it out for some shots. I thought I would share some photos of the camera w/ the Lumix VF attached. BTW--the Lumix VF housing is aluminum and not plastic. The build is solid and the lens is pretty clear. But to be honest, I don't really know what highly quality Viewfinders look like. The only comparison I can make is against the viewfinder in my Nikon D200. The comparison to a dslr is probably not a helpful one though. Being that this is my first time using any external vf, I am not understanding why the frame in the vf is not in the same position as the actual capture. I am referring to the 24mm length in 3:2 format. The vf shows the frame a bit higher than it actually is. Any thoughts?
Advertisement Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi cfc247, Take a look here My DLux 4 has arrived and the Lumix VF Pics. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
herbet Posted November 12, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2008 I never used an external VF myself but would not expect this one to be spot-on as it has no parallax compensation.
cfc247 Posted November 12, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted November 12, 2008 Yea, after a few hours of taking test shots, I think I am going to return this finder. The frame it shows is probably not more than 70% of the actual image. I wonder if the Leica vf is the same in this regard.
