Rower Posted October 8, 2006 Author Share #2  Posted October 8, 2006 Like always there is a small story in the back...  As a child I loved to read books - especially I ate all classic Scifi which I could get. We had a library which all this kind of books from the 50th - they had covers with ships and buildings in the same style.  That´s why I was amazed by this unique approach to architecture - although you can discuss about whether its beautiful or not. And guess what - its a library!
biglouis Posted October 8, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted October 8, 2006 Very weird building. Makes a bold image and very well taken by you. I guess the architect was trying to make a statement. Have you got any more photographs from Brasilia? Â LouisB
Rower Posted October 8, 2006 Author Share #4  Posted October 8, 2006 Hi Louis,  I am glad you like it - yes I have plenty of them - the history of Brasilia is interesting. The brazilian government decided in the 50th that they want to create a new capital in the middle of the country as a democratic statement.  So they did - they built a complete capital within a few years for several million people now.  The architect is very famous in Brazil - he left his traces all over the country - and yes all of his buildings are different and special, very curvy and floating lines. His name is Oscar Niermayer.  The quality is limited because I had to shoot all of them out the car - was there just for business.  #1 is cathedral - hypermodern at that time - see the bell tower on the right side - really different  #2 is the parliament and their twin towers (much older then the famous NY´s)  Thanks a lot for your interest
