Guest stnami Posted October 11, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 11, 2006 Not really, I was more interested in the data but seeing there is none... so be it, not a big deal
mhoutman Posted October 11, 2006 Share #23 Posted October 11, 2006 Victor, Did you ever try the Ricoh GR-Digital with the external viewfinder ? Just curious. Michiel btw I will replacing a IXUS 500 for a silver D-Lux 3. Former goes to my son then.
rob_x2004 Posted October 11, 2006 Share #24 Posted October 11, 2006 Dunno, its all much to do about nothin anyway. Pretty much the same cameras and unless you want to put blow ups of cropped pin heads what does it matter.
rob_x2004 Posted October 11, 2006 Share #25 Posted October 11, 2006 Hey Albert recommends the Canon Powershot G7 which has a viewfinder and hotshoe and ISO through to 1600...or somethin.
rob_x2004 Posted October 11, 2006 Share #26 Posted October 11, 2006 So when the litter comes are you expecting Leicasonics or Panalics?
vic vic Posted October 11, 2006 Author Share #27 Posted October 11, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) ha ha sein... ya - lets convience them to work on such thing... i think they will create a new legacy with it :-)))))) sure i will buy it :-)))) such camera will have a great photographic potential as well... gepetto... from your pictures - the improvement seems to be substencial without any doubt i have to tell u... i will still go with more... with the described camera... true leica spirit in the new digital era and standards (of small and portable - pocket size - like my mobile phone)... but i also have to say - i never trust internet photos beyound initial impression... why... it is not because of u or metadata that is not there - dont mind about metadata... i just have to see what i can do with it... what is the procedure etc... sean_reid Posted October 11, 2006 Share #28 Posted October 11, 2006 So when the litter comes are you expecting Leicasonics or Panalics? OK, that was kind of funny. But why this doubt over Gepetto's samples? Cheers, Sean
gepetto Posted October 11, 2006 Share #29 Posted October 11, 2006 Thanks Sean. I will leave the professional reviews to you. Imants I posted the data that goes with the images. It is not my fault making images web ready in PS strips the metadata. Victor that is understandable. I had found the LX1 very useful but there were aspects of it that I thought needed to be addressed. This was the reason I went with the Pana version and not the Leica. I think the D-LUX 3/LX2 have addressed the issues. Namely 16:9 aspect LCD. SDHC card support. Better IQ. Pleasantly there has been a number of other things improved as well like the econo feature that shuts the screen down without shutting the whole camera down. Ideally I would have really wanted the Sigma DP1 but that camera will be months away with no release date which means the waiting could stretch on for a year. The D-LUX 3 was available now. From my first hand experience contrary to peoples notion that the D-LUX 3 is just a bump in megapixels I have found that it is just not the case. The LCD itself changes the dynamics of the camera. Guest stnami Posted October 11, 2006 Share #30 Posted October 11, 2006 Imants I posted the data that goes with the images. It is not my fault making images web ready in PS strips the metadata. Like I said, no big deal, I usually find it the other way in that stripping the data is harder. but then I spent some time sending images to clients over the net. Web images by themselves can be misleading as well as masking image shortfalls, hence my preference for the data. I'll sit tight and wait for the Sigma DP1, the D2 ( not a big camera) does everthing that a Lux does and as a non landscape photographer except for landscape designs the 16:9 doesn't do much
J Mitchum Posted October 12, 2006 Share #31 Posted October 12, 2006 As far as Gepetto's samples go I prefer the D-lux3 at 400 ISO but prefer the grain of the D-Lux2/LX1 at 800 ISO. Bottom line: shoot in RAW or suffer the consequences.
vic vic Posted October 12, 2006 Author Share #32 Posted October 12, 2006 gebetto - sean... no - i have no suspicions towards gibetto at all - oh no... i just dont take internet photos beyound the initial impression... i trust gibbetos words more than pictures... if he says it is better - i belive them.. and u to sean - i trust more your words and desciptions then what u would put on the internet... it is not about u - it is about the fact that internet pictures are simply not enough for serious judgement... take another example... puts revierws... his reviews about the lenses are really amazing and proove to be very good and accurate indeed in most of the cases and aspects... but have i been looking at hos pictures on the internt for judging???? just another extreme example in case of puts....
