miami91 Posted November 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi, Can I use the my venerable SF-20 on the new Digilux 4/Panasonic LX-3?If so what modes are supported? It works --- the camera fires the flash. However, you'll need to manually enter the ISO and f stop on the flash gun --- this info is not communicated to the flash. A couple other things from my brief experimentation. Flash synch speed seems to be fixed at 1/30 second. Also, the SF20 is a pretty large flash for such a small camera. The new CF22 will likely be a much better match. Jeff.
rycm Posted November 10, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks.. flash is like used so seldom... hard to make additional investment for the CF22 at this point. But tried the SF20 and it's passable..
rsolomon Posted November 10, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2008 so from an electronics perspective there is no concern ?
rycm Posted November 22, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted November 22, 2008 Here is my experience with the SF-20 on the D4/LX3. On Auto mode, the shutter speed will be set at 1/30s. I set my SF-20 to Auto mode. And my camera to M (Manual) and set Aperature at 2.8 and select ISO, usually 200. You will need to manually correspond the flash to the camera setting. But hey... you can now select flash sync speed all the way to 1/2000s. Now how many DSLR can do this? I can't with my Nikon D200. Need more time playing with the camera with SF-20. Most of the time, I use it without flash, but I am starting to see the fill in flash possibilities.
