richam Posted October 7, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ruins of the ancient city of Nikopolis in western Greece. Noted for both Roman and Byzantine ruins; often the latter on top of the former. The city was the headquarters of Caesar Agustus during the battle of Actium (Aktion in Greek; about 10 km away) in which Cleopatra and Marc Anthony's forces were defeated. It also has biblical significance as the furthest destination of Saint Paul on his 3rd journey. First image, south wall ruins with grazing sheep. M7, 24 Elmarit, Agfa Vista 200. lambroving Posted October 8, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2006 Mike, Nice to see you back! All are interesting and I particularly like the way you handled the light and perspective in the first. Are you living in Greece full-time now?
richam Posted October 8, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 8, 2006 William, yes retired from job in Germany; living in Greece full time (with a slow internet connection). Also spending considerable time in Florida, where our son and his family live. Thanks for your comments and interest. (I hope administrators are reading) Largely due to the connection, I'm not reviewing photos as often as I had been doing in Germany. So I hesitate to post unless I'm actively reviewing others' photos. Will keep trying, but have to limit download time. So I automatically abort any threads with over 3 photos or large files that consume a lot of time.
