brucek Posted November 12, 2008 Share #21 Posted November 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will the electronics on the lens work with the E1 or Digilux? Metering? AF? Are you aware that the lens on the Digilux 2 is not removeable? Bruce
Advertisement Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Hi brucek, Take a look here D-Lux 4 images compared to Digilux 2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cfc247 Posted November 12, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted November 12, 2008 Bruce, yes I am aware. I meant to write Digilux 3. I am interested in using some Leica R glass but currently don't own a compatible body. The E1 and the Digilux3 were suggested by some.
Ruhayat Posted November 12, 2008 Share #23 Posted November 12, 2008 Aperture Priority metering works completely. Auto white balance works. Exposure bracketing works (I think -- I never use this feature so I can't confirm). I also don't use flash, so I can't comment on what you'd have to give up there. Shutter Priority doesn't work. And R lenses have no auto-focus anyway, so really, you're not giving up much, convenience wise, by using them on a non-R body. Between the E-1 and Digilux 3, I'd rather have the latter. They are quite rare on the ground, but if you can get a good deal I'd say go for it; you'll probably get even more of the Leica loveliness. Then again, I got the E-1 secondhand for about US$200, so I'm happy with it.
