Linda just came out with it and Ray and I were just happy to hear it, never thought ask worldwode or not. I am a little surprised we have not heard about it from other sources

gogopix Posted October 7, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 7, 2006 The digilux is good practice for the ergonomics of RF. Two things I learned growing up (when ALL sorts of reflex cameras were considered newfangled, or for richfolk. :-) Yes use anything butindex (or THUMB!) 2nd, 3rd finger etc -- and KEEP THOSE ELBOWS IN all the time. Even normal landscape horizontal, use arm and elbows for stability. Claim was, and I think it is true, that this can add a half stop/ tostop of extra stability. I have 1/30 shots from pros better than 1/100 shot from the restof us!! LOL
rick123 Posted October 7, 2006 Share #23 Posted October 7, 2006 Guy, thank you for the helpful information! Did you have the opportunity to use a 50mm with the M8? With the crop factor, how close did it seem to using a 50mm on an older M?
Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 7, 2006 Share #24 Posted October 7, 2006 I will let Ray answer that since he is much more familar with the M than I , I am a newbie to the M line. But more very experienced on the digital side and the DMR and other DSLR's. I do love the 50mm on my DMR that 66mm is very nice and on the M it felt very comfortable
cpclee Posted October 8, 2006 Share #25 Posted October 8, 2006 Guy did you have a change to ask about the successor model to the DMR? (Time frame, basic specs, etc.)
harmsr Posted October 8, 2006 Share #26 Posted October 8, 2006 Rick, I don't really know how to answer your question well. The 50 will still be a 50 even though its FOV changes to that of a 66. The framelines are still the paired 50/75 as on film so that is the same. The only real difference is the FOV is now 66 and the viewfinder magnification is slightly reduced to .68 from .72. This means that the frame lines are between the old 50 and 75 lines for film. The 50 is still going to be a very good lens on the M8. I have the 28,35,50,75 set of lenses. Two lens kits for me will be the 28 & 50 or the 35 &75 depending on what I am planning to shoot. Best, Ray

harmsr Posted October 9, 2006 Share #32 Posted October 9, 2006 Tom, The LCD preview that I was looking at also showed an image on the cool side, including the skin tones. However, that was the preview jpeg and very early version .2x firmware. Having seen results from the production DMR, I would not worry. I am in line for the M8 and trust that Leica will have everything very close when released. Best, Ray

Best, Ray The LCD may not be that representative of the color either though they are reported to be getting better. Not affecting my pre-order either!!! reddawn Posted October 9, 2006 Share #34 Posted October 9, 2006 I liked the magnifer and already ordered it. For me it seems very easy to keep on all the to me from 28-90 without eyeglasses, so that really helped bring things in. I know this is true with all the M's but the focus patch seems small, maybe that is me also. Guy, I have had the little 1.25x magnifier for my 0.58x M6TTL for a few years and it is indeed a very useful accessory but u need to note that for a few users (including mine) the chain hooking the magnifier has broken off (it in fact breaks rather easily), and the rubber in front of the eyepiece (which is supposed to help prevent scratches on eyeglasses) has fallen off. It's a little overpriced piece of gem that is flawed imho, in the build dept. u might want to remove the chain completely before subjecting it to intensive use.
