spylaw4 Posted November 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently shot a batch of (M8) photos with a 6000K setting on WB. On import into LR2.1 every shot showed a WB setting of 6350K. Why should this be? What's the reason? Your ideas/reasons would be most welcome. Advertisement Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here LR and WB deg.K changes. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sandymc Posted November 5, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2008 The way the white balance information is handled in DNGs is to encode a "As shot neutral" value into the DNG, in effect the color of a grey card, rather than a color temperature. And unfortunately, strange as this may sound, there isn't any industry standard for how you get from a neutral color to a color temperature (or a DNG specific standard, for that matter). So what you are probably seeing is the difference between Leica color to color temperature conversion algorithm and the Adobe one. Sandy
spylaw4 Posted November 5, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted November 5, 2008 Thanks for that Sandy. you are probably quite correct as a similar thing happens in Aperture.
Marquinius Posted November 6, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2008 I noticed the same thing in both LR and Aperture, so I guess it's a good explanation. Marco
