Ruhayat Posted October 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) In case anyone is interested, I have uploaded some first test pictures taken off my "new" old Olympus E-1 / Summicron-R 50mm set up. The pictures demonstrate the detail, colour rendition, sharpness, bokeh and low light capabilities achievable from this combo. The thread is here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/67559-olympus-e-1-50mm-summicron-r.html#post699249 This is turning out to be a good combo for me. I'm learning to hyperfocus and zone focus with it, and it's proving to be rather easy to score. The 97% viewfinder makes focusing even in low lights very reasonable: about a 80-90% success rate, I'd say. By contrast, the 14-42mm kit lens I used previously as a temporary measure would hunt endlessly in low light, and the f4.6 aperture made manual focusing painful. Overall, I prefer the colours from the Olympus E-1's Kodak sensor more than those I have seen out of the Canon 5D. Browns and greens look more organic, to my eyes. Some people might prefer the 5D's rendition. Dynamic range is also much better on the 5D.
