wda Posted October 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Grapes in our Wiltshire garden. Nothing exceptional about that you might say. We inherited this vine so it is of unknown parentage. What is remarkable this year is that we have far fewer blackbirds eating them as soon as they ripen. Normally we only see the beautiful autumn tints on the leaves. This year we will have the pleasures of both. For those winemakers looking in, no, there are not enough grapes to merit a wine-making business! azzo Posted October 4, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2006 David, I think it lacks in contrast and also, it has too much brightness.Otherwise, i like the composition. Regards AZZO
andybarton Posted October 4, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 4, 2006 David While I agree mostly with Ian, this is a sweet picture. A little play in Lightroom improves it greatly to my eye. Are they edible, if not drinkable?
kld Posted October 4, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2006 I think the brightness is portrayed very naturally and if that was intendend it is ok. In either case, well composed. -- Klaus
wda Posted October 5, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted October 5, 2006 David, I think it lacks in contrast and also, it has too much brightness.Otherwise, i like the composition. Regards AZZO Azzo, thank you. What you say is interesting. I work with two monitors; on the calibrated one it is fine but on the uncalibrated one it appears brighter. I do prefer to work with a calibrated monitor. If I boost contrast, the shadows will lose detail and the white wall will burn out. It is always a difficult balancing act! Are they edible, if not drinkable? Thanks, Andy. Yes, the grapes are edible, very sweet but a little on the small side. What did you do in Lightroom (which I do not have; I rely on CS2)? wda Posted October 5, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted October 5, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Klaus, thank you. What you say suggests that your monitor is also calibrated. Colour and brightness rendition does vary between monitors. David
andybarton Posted October 5, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 5, 2006 Thanks, Andy. Yes, the grapes are edible, very sweet but a little on the small side. What did you do in Lightroom (which I do not have; I rely on CS2)? David Download the beta - it's free I boosted the Blacks and did some other stuff (which I forget now). There are some very useful controls in Lightroom that don't appear in PS.
wda Posted October 6, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted October 6, 2006 Download the beta - it's free . Andy, thank you. Until I make space on my four hard drives I am avoiding downloading any software. A winter chore, catching up on editing a growing collection of digital files. David
