Don'tknowmuch Posted October 15, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 15, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. If any one has time I wonder if you'd mind looking at these two images of a lens that I might buy? Im looking for a 35mm Elmar like this, but would only buy it if it was uncoated. Can anyone tell from the image if it looks like it's coated or not? I can't see any sort of colour tinge, but others may see something I don't. I am also aware that some of the Elmars won't mate with the adapter to work with rangefinding M's, so am including a photo of the rear of the lens hoping that someone who knows will tell me that it will or won't couple. I have bought an M2, but it isn't here yet so can't look at my own camera to work this out for myself, but don't want to lose this lens if it is what I want. Thanks for any help, Jim. Advertisement Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Hi Don'tknowmuch, Take a look here Elmar 35mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Erik van Straten Posted October 15, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2008 This one is not coated and it will accept a screwmount/m-adapter. The 35mm Elmars that will not accept a screwmount/m-adapter, are the so called "thick-cam" Elmars. These are earlier than yours, and have a thick, chromed coupling cam on the back instead of a thin brass one, as on yours. This one will, with the right adapter, mount on an M2. Erik. andym911 Posted October 15, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2008 agree with above, this is exactly the 35mm elmar that I use now, (reccommended by Bill) for my IIf and CL with an adapter. regards Andy
