Don'tknowmuch Posted October 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) M2 for sale on ebay. Has "Abrahamsson Soft Release." Is this a good thing? The body has also been recovered. Is this an indication that it might be covering up problems? Jim.
Advertisement Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Hi Don'tknowmuch, Take a look here Abrahamsson Soft Release. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michiel Fokkema Posted October 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2008 The softie is very nice but will otherwise only cost you only $10 new. No reason to buy his paticular camera. But do get a softie from Tom directly! Cheers, Michiel Fokkema
MPerson Posted October 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2008 Jim - Peter Walnes is the supplier in the UK: Peter Walnes The Abrahamsson soft release is one of those items you love or hate. I bought one for my CL and I love it but when I put one on the MP I found I was forever tripping the shutter accidentally at the slightest pressure so had to remove it. Don'tknowmuch Posted October 11, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted October 11, 2008 OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if it was something fixed into the internal mechanism, but clearly it's a bolt-on small extra. It's nice to ask a simple question that has a simple answer! Just been out with my shutter-lagging Leica 1 on this wonderful Autumn morning. Hope I get some shots! Thanks again, Jim. Vieri Posted October 11, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 11, 2008 Jim, I have Softies on both my MP and I really like them a lot - so much that, having gotten recently a R6.2 & an M2 I immediately ordered 2 softies for these cameras as well. I can see how people might not like them, of course, but to me they improve considerably the handling of the shutter - more, I got one black & one red which makes it easier to understand which MP is which in the bag (red one Neopan 1600 or color, black one Plus-X or Tri-X according to the shoot). For the price, I would suggest to get one and try it. Not a huge investment at all if you end up deciding that you don't like it
