kenneth Posted October 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just ordered a black M6 Classic 0.72 from the buy and sell section. The chrome one which I had originally ordered from a dealer (second hand not Leica) did not materialise and I also had a gut feeling that it was not as described. Anyway, now I will be able to carry out my own personal private poll- Black-v- Chrome as to which I think is best. I think I might be still biased towards chrome but at least I will be able to tell them apart in the murky depths of my Billingham bag

kenneth Posted October 10, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted October 10, 2008 Welcome to M photography, Ken! Thanks Alan. I am an old boy actually. I already have a chrome M6 Classic which I love. However, I don't have any scanning facilities so I am not able to show any of my pictures. Who knows they might not be worth showing. That's my excuse anyway
alifie Posted October 10, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 10, 2008 As long as the inside is black it doesn't matter. For scanning I use a cheap USB flatbed, cost about 30 quid and does 10x8's no problem.
peter_n Posted October 10, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 10, 2008 Great camera. Should last you forever. I'm color agnostic and my purchases are bought for price reasons. I used to have three silver chrome Leicas, now I have two black ones. I use different color shutter speed dials to help distinguish between them. Looks odd but it works for me. john_newell Posted October 10, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 10, 2008 You'll be happy, I think. The silver chrome plating on the zinc top plates isn't the same as the old M2/M3/M4/M5 finish visually. In fact, even the brass M4-P I owned for years wasn't the same. YMMV but I'm with Peter - I'm colorblind these days when it comes to body finish. I sort of missed that on the M6
