marknorton Posted October 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's a section on the Leica Camera web-site on the S-System with a key-note video with Dr Kaufmann, Maike Harberts and Stefan Schulz. Short, but underlines their confidence in what they've done. Also seems they're gearing up for the professional - which is of course a pre-requisite. Although this is not a camera for me, I like what they are doing.
Advertisement Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Hi marknorton, Take a look here S-System "Key-Note". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
peterv Posted October 7, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2008 Yes I like it too. It's just too bad they chose to have this Keynote, or corporate movie or whatever you call it, directed like it is now... I mean, this looks much too obscure (literally) for a company to present a new product. Just wonder what potential customers will 'feel' after seeing this. The German versions sound much better than the English, of course. I posted a link here two weeks ago: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/64362-leica-s-website.html
sdai Posted October 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 7, 2008 Overall, Leica's web presentation on their official web site is pretty weak. Schultz and Daniel went to Japan last week and launched the products in Tokyo. DC watch has a report on it ... Leica' mini-photokina in Tokyo Some highlights from the Tokyo "mini-Photokina": S2 compared to D3: S2 in hands of Schultz: Maestro ... built on Fujitsu's Milbeaut platform: New Leica at Wetzlar:

Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 7, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2008 Thought there new digs would have been done sooner. I saw the land in June 06 but it was somewhat a secret then. I'm sure there really looking forward to getting into there new building. At the time not sure this still holds true but 2 separate buildings . One building for sure was optics ONLY. Only lens manufacturing will be done in it, they have to worry about contamination with there coatings so in Solms they cannot cook food for there employees it is brought in everyday because the cooking fumes could cause some issues. I found that quite interesting.
andybarton Posted October 7, 2008 Share #7 Posted October 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) The frames of the buildings were well under way when we were there in June. I would expect the buildings to be completed in '

Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 8, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 8, 2008 Thanks Steve looks like there moving it along pretty well. I do see separate buildings like they said they needed to do. From memory I think they also said in the optics building there are some extra special needs and I think one was sealing it off from the outside air or something. But I'm not sure.
