John Thawley Posted October 29, 2008 Share #21 Posted October 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi John This is the bag Leica sold back in the 70's [and maybe earlier] It's the same model I used [see post above] for many years until it finally bit the dust. I won't say they actualy made the bag themselves, but it did have an official Leica part number in their catalogues from that era. Thanks... I really like the looks.. so I hope it's as nice as the seller described. I don't have much use for day bags with my work cameras, as I usually schlep around trackside with 3 kits dangling off my shoulder. But, when I go out for fun with my Digilux 2 and 3, I don't like them banging around,.. especially during transport. Looks like I can toss my little D-Lux 3 in there too. For $64 I think it was a steal. JT

garyp Posted October 29, 2008 Share #22 Posted October 29, 2008 That is a pretty good deal, they can be pricey when in good condition. They were around $18 when new in early 70's.
John Thawley Posted November 3, 2008 Share #23 Posted November 3, 2008 That is a pretty good deal, they can be pricey when in good condition. They were around $18 when new in early 70's. The bag arrived and was, in fact, as described... brand new. One minor drawback was the "stored in the basement" musty odor. But I seem have eliminated that with some thorough deodorizing and spraying.... etc. Meanwhile, the bag is spectacular. The leather is not quite the quality I'd hoped, but the canvas is actually nicer than I had expected. The configuration of the bag is perfect. It is very light, and so far I've carried it with a Digilux 3 body, Digilux 3 lens, and my Digilux 2. In the outer pockets I've got extra batteries, memory cards and my D-Lux 3 in the middle one. With all that I can barely feel it on my shoulder. The bag fits snug to your side and the wide leather shoulder piece is perfect. What a great find. It's the perfect day-tripper. alw Posted November 3, 2008 Share #24 Posted November 3, 2008 Well then, may I chime in? I´m about to purchase this. If I get it, I´ll probably need to buy some vintage suits to go with it, from the 70´s? Welcome, dear visitor! If I get it, I´ll probably need to buy some vintage suits to go with it, from the 70´s? Do we know each other? From 1974-1985 I designed and sold custom tailored suits. LOL But, alas.... I can't help you. Neat bag. JT
alw Posted November 3, 2008 Share #26 Posted November 3, 2008 Yes, neat is the word. And it will neatly put all those Hama-carrying digiphiles to shame.
Michiel Fokkema Posted November 4, 2008 Share #27 Posted November 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a smaller one in that red colour and the same model in Khaki. Actually these are very nice bags. The same model is now made under the name M-clasics. Home Page Cheers, Michiel Fokkema
