alifie Posted September 28, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) 15 years ago my darkroom was born, made it in the attic space, proper stud and plasterboard job too. Won a roll of grey industrial wall paper, the stuff they do office partitions with at the time and the walls are covered with the stuff (suprisingy enough). I went up there this morning to do a bit of printing it was grimy and stained, quite 'orrible really. Half a left over tin of white kitchen paint and a roller later, super clean laboratory look, thats only the first coat too. The safelight is brighter as well. Used to work in office interiors- plasterboard can develop o fungus if damp gets to it. Your idea of painting it should work but you may find it strikes through again
alifie Posted September 28, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted September 28, 2008 Dampness didn't cause the stains it was chemical spashes, I hope the 'scrubbable' kitchen paint will help in cleaning up too. Anyway the wallpaper is a vinyl type. Coat two tomorrow.
alifie Posted September 29, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted September 29, 2008 Coat two on, super! Spring cleaning the darkroom gives an impetus to spend more time in there, maybe do some printing too.
jpattison Posted September 30, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 30, 2008 Don't forget to paint matt black behind (around?) your enlarger. Helps cut down reflections, as you can get light leaks from the head. John
