I just recently discovered that the focus ring on my 50mm Summicron is nearly locked. It can't be adjusted with one hand anymore. There is stiff spot right on the center of the focus range. The camera lives in a messenger bag wrapped in a towel and it goes everywhere with me, everyday. The bag has been dropped and the UV filter is dented in. Yesterday I discovered another dent on the filter and now the focus ring is pretty much frozen. I called Leica in NY and they gave me the 800 number for the repair facility in New Jersey. Has anyone dealt with them? I'm curious about customer service and pricing & if anyone knows of any other reputable place in the US that they could recommend. Thanks in advance.

I think John has the right idea. You could even get it back to solms yourself but they dont check their work before returning it, and their work is not consistent.

ps ... Does the lens still detach from the body smoothly? Rangefinder aligned? Might be a good opportunity to get a service.

I had Sherry Krauter fix my 50mm Summicron and it came back better than I could have ever asked. Sherry Krauter.com -- Home of the Golden Touch.***

She is fantastic.
