khun_k Posted October 29, 2008 Share #81 Posted October 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My strength is probably only with the jib jabs on a forum ... that being said, I've always treated photography as a form of self entertainment and I'm quite satisfied with status quo. I never even had a online gallery and similar things so sorry ... as Guy have said, it's all about enjoying, if you let me pull out 100 pictures from my hard drive, they all will probably look the same. Different goals, different priorities ... not everyone who buys a race car needs/wants to run as fast as Schumacher, right? same here. I have rarely looked into any photo forums, the gear talks are the main reasons why I come here and let's get back on topic. LOL Again, thanks a lot and best to all. The S2 is in my point of view the most professional model introduced by Leica for a long time. Without question the M series is at their best of what they have been used but was not the main stream of pro tools. The R although have excellent quality, but overall not the most effective pro tools due to lack of AF, or in the case of DMR, less resolution. With the previous Canon 1D series DSLR and the digital backs, there are pros started to accept the camera can cost many tens of thousand euros, the S2 is although still on the high side, but not that much higher than the other pro gear, and has the same tradition of the original M, small film (sensor), large print. Advertisement Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Hi khun_k, Take a look here H3D-II/39 now $22K. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicapages Posted November 8, 2008 Share #82 Posted November 8, 2008 There is a difference in connectivity/compatibility between H3D and H3D-II (latest series): the H3D-II can only be used with their digital backs, no more support for film magazines, which is a huge step back IMHO. leicapages Posted November 8, 2008 Share #83 Posted November 8, 2008 Regarding manufacturing of Hasselblad H series systems: the body is still made in Sweden, the viewfinder and film magazine in Japan (Fuji), the lenses in Japan (Fuji), the digital backs in Denmark (Imacon). So a truly "United Nations" camera... While it is an excellent system producing top notch results (I use the H1 with the 50-110 HC zoom with film only) I do regret that the feeling is not the traditional standard that we are used to with Leica. So if one wants to get a Leica-like MF system today, buy a Rolleiflex system (6008 AF or Hy6 with Schneider lenses), fully made in Germany.
