alifie Posted September 24, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) The title says it all. For example the M8 has a very thin sensor cover to reduce this effect, my bottom glass is 2mm thick, how much is this a problem?
Advertisement Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hi alifie, Take a look here How does the thickness of a glass carrier affect enlargement sharpness. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
alifie Posted September 24, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted September 24, 2008 Just done some ray tracing and for a 5mm plate (n=1.5), 5x magnification and 50mm lens the centre to corner difference is 0.08mm at the negative. I don't think I will worry too much!
chilihead Posted September 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2008 For 35mm you should not need a bottom glass.

I agree, but it is nice to know the reality, some people insist on double glass others say glassless is fine. It just (before my first post on this thread) realised there may be a problem with the thickness of said bottom glass. That's one of the problems of recently getting some NEW Lieca glass, as opposed to 1960s stuff, it is so good everything else in the photographic chain is shown up. ( Ignoring the Noct. of course. )
