andybarton Posted September 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2008 Only if they have sorted out the micro lens issue (or some how got round the incident light angle problem). This isn't an issue on the S2, so I'd be surprised if the same chip could be used on a possible M9.
svante Posted September 24, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 24, 2008 dpreview says the following about the new line of Kodak sensors: "...interestingly it also includes a novel slimline infrared filter, which we'd guess could eventually find its way into a future Leica M sensor." svante Posted September 24, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 24, 2008 And specifically about the sensor used in the S2; "The sensor also includes specific design features that optimize its use in the S2 camera, such as the use of microlenses to increase the overall light sensitivity of the device, enabling improved image quality under low light conditions. In addition, an infra-red absorbing optic was incorporated directly into the sensor’s packaging, enabling the development of a thinner camera design by eliminating the need to include this IR-absorbing function as a separate camera component."
