jrc Posted September 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I put this here because Leica may some day be related to this machine... The photos of a prototype Panasonic 4/3 on Digital Photography Review show a fairly compact body that is dwarfed by its lenses. What's all that about? What's the point of a Leica-sized body with Canon-sized lenses? I wonder if somebody could make an adapter that would put the Pentax pancake lenses on the Panasonic? That would be interesting... MJLogan Posted September 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 22, 2008 The next (or next-to-next) lens on the µ4/3 lens schedule is a reasonably fast prime pancake. The Digilux 3 body (let alone an Oly E420 body) is pretty much dwarfed by the Digilux 3 kit lens. All the talk about using "legacy" 4/3 lenses with µ4/3 bodies makes me giggle at the thought of the visual/weight imbalance, not to mention the silly blue and red G1 bodies. When there is a "pro" µ4/3 body and a few "pro " (i.e. Zuiko- or Leica-branded rather than Lumix-branded) lenses to match with that body, I'll consider µ4/3 seriously. That day might come rather soon, too.

palec Posted September 22, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 22, 2008 Some people laughed at first iMacs-egg shape computers in silly colors. Millions bought them. I'm one of them, I still have a green iMac DV and it's working fine. But the difference between iMac and DMC-G1 is that the latter one does not look like designed by inovative industrial designer. Yes, just my opinion.

Yes, just my opinion. Exactly. I still have 2 original iMacs, myself. The G1 body design sends contradictory signals. Its "me-too" DSLR shape (it even has a pentaprism hump!) signals us to think of it as serious and conservative. The fact that it comes in colours undermines that signal. Bad, bad design!
