I use an invercone on my Weston Master V when reading the light falling onto the subject and read off the dials as normal. Rob, I only ever thought in terms of EV when I used a camera that had/has EV settings - Rolleiflex and some Hass lenses. It is remarkably simple ad one can quickly become adept at estimating the light this way without a meter. I was very fond of doing things that way/ Never tried to think in EV terms with a Leica though. I often use the Sunny 16 Rule to check that I'm in the ball park.
