wbesz Posted September 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a Rollei Trial Test Set from a photo store last week which comes with 5 films, the developer, and a very nice wooden box. Just wondering if anyone has tried out this film and can contribute any (informative) comment? It will be a while before I get to it. Apparently you can set the ISO from 25, and all the way to 6400 using the film! Welcome, dear visitor! fotohuis Posted September 20, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2008 Fotohuis RoVo's Gallery - Rollei R3 35mm http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/RolleiR3.pdf and http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/Development_Rollei%20films.pdf In your RHS/AM74, iso 400 till about 1000. For low iso rates use the RLS/CG512 ultra-fine grain depth developer at 24 degrees C. Especially do not forget the pre-soak (>1 minute) for this 3-layer TSF type film, which is important and take notice to load and unload your cassette in subdue light in your Leica camera. The film is on clear polyester layer and sensitive till about 700nm (extended red). Best regards, Robert
wbesz Posted September 21, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted September 21, 2008 Thanks for the web pointers guys (you are guys I guess ). And Robert, the "pre-soak" is a great reminder. I would never have thought that for the 3-layer film. I'm amazed that more Leica rangefinder enthusiasts haven't tried this film. It hardly costs any more than some other quality film. I normally use ACROS 100 for the low ISO, and Delta 400 or TRI-X 400 for the high end. Thanks, William
fotohuis Posted September 21, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2008 It hardly costs any more than some other quality film Eur. 1,50 for exp. 5/08 and 8/08 at the moment. Especially in high mountain areas the 700nm combined with a yellow filter will get rid of the haze you have on those heights. Here an example of the R3 (made by Filmotec, Germany by the way) in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado 12.000ft/3700m in a snow blizard (February 2008) . Camera M7 + Summicron 2,0/50mm working at - 4F/- 20 degrees C. My visit to the Czech Republic in 2005 was worser: -28 degrees C/ -18 F. Still everything was working. Same M7 + Elmarit 2,8/28mm on Fomapan 200 film. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! wbesz Posted September 22, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted September 22, 2008 Robert, thanks for the photos. Looking at image #3, it looks like you can capture a wide range of light, from shadow to (old) snow. Of course, with our limited jpeg size and the fact that the film is scanned, it's always hard to see the genuine quality of the images. I just priced the film here, and it sells from 6 Euros to a little over 8 Euros each, depending whether you buy bulk or a single. Cheers, William
