terrycioni Posted September 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there more to come from our friends at Leica when Photokina kicks-off on Monday? I am hoping a few forum members will be there.... In the past couple of days a few of people have outright said and others implied there is something more coming from our friends in Solms. I am not one to speculate but often where this is smoke there is fire. Perhaps there is the often mentioned digital CL waiting for the start of Photokina.... Best To All. Terry. adan Posted September 19, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2008 Ther is some kind of press party Monday. Speculation mostly has to do with the future of the R system and/or a hypothetical new S system (which may be parts of the same thing). probably not even real product but perhaps mock-ups - although it is really a WAG until Leica themselves let the cat out. I think we've about seen the lot for the M line, this go-around (still hoping for that 16mm f/3.4, however). For the moment we are throwing darts at the wall and then drawing targets around them.... JumpStart Posted September 20, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 20, 2008 I will be at Photokina starting Tuesday. (I arrive Monday evening) Assuming I can find a hot spot I can afford, I'll check in with the forum on Tuesday evening, Koln time. If anyone has any specific questions, I would be happy to try and get the answers over the week. DBK

dfarkas Posted September 20, 2008 Share #14 Posted September 20, 2008 I will be attending the full show and posting to my blog each night (like I did from Photokina 06). There will be plenty of pictures, hands-on reports, and my take on things. I will be speaking with product managers and getting the answers to a lot of questions that have been posted around the forum. If anyone else is going to the show and wants to meet up, let me know. I have heard Leica will be doing Medium format and New R-digital. But we will not see them at least 2 years from now. Panaxxxxxxxx is doing micro4/3 so naturally Leica will ask PanaXXXXXX to make one for them too. And our chinese friend will make adopters for various lenses including for M! It has no shutter so any lens is doing true TTL viewing. I can not wait get one sooner! I am happy with M8. But I don`t need to use my hyperdrive with it any longer because of SDHC support. David David - please do ask them about any chance of the shutter up-grade including shutter re-cock separation... It makes no sense otherwise... Thanks... redfalo Posted September 20, 2008 Share #19 Posted September 20, 2008 anyone know what any of that lot is in GMT ? The Leica press party ("VIP event") starts at 7pm on Monday. The invitation says something about "Leicas best kept secret" which is supposed to be presented there and will be the start of a new era for Leica. (Can´t be the M8-2, I suppose) I´ll be there.
