wda Posted September 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) For some time I have used an Epson P2000 for backing up digital files while traveling. However, it is useless for Raw unless capture incorporates a jpeg file. So, with Notebooks appearing at not much more money than for a pure backup device I am considering buying one, preferably compatible with PC/Windows XP. I definitely do not want a minuscule keyboard; neither do I want a chunky laptop. The ability to use Lightroom would also be attractive although that isn't essential. However I would like to be able to roughly edit each day's picture capture. Has anyone found a good affordable reliable notebook for use in the situations I described? In anticipation, I thank you. Don't expect a $500 model, but try the Thinkpad T series or the Toshiba, HP, or Dell equivalents. Sports Illustrated and Time Life issue Thinkpads to their staff photographers, with the photographer also having the choice of Apple Macbook pros. There isn't really much difference I can see among the $600-$1000 models, money buys a bigger hard drive and all other stuff are almost the same.
