Guest WPalank Posted September 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Everybody, I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing some street shooting for the annual San Francisco Love Fest Parade (it moved from Berlin a couple of years ago) coming up here pretty shortly. Here's a link: San Francisco LoveFest Anyway, I've shot it the last couple of years and have found that it is a great way to wet your chops for street shooting. Mainly because everyone there is an exhibitionist and wants to be photographed. There will probably be over 100,000 young people in town for the music scene and parties that weekend. The parade will start at noon, but I typically arrive in the staging area at 2nd and market about 10:30 AM. No press credentials have been necessary in the past. At noon the parade moves down Market Street usually with throngs of spectators lining the route. The parade floats then come to a stop in Civic Center plaza were the party really begins with music blasting from several of the larger floats. Thousands and thousands of younger people dancing to the beats all dressed in colorful attire, that is if they are wearing anything at all. Think rave culture or Burning Man. I want to stress that this event is a perfect introduction for those that have been a little timid about "street photography". Everyone wants their picture taken. So please show me your interest by replying to this thread or sending me a PM and we can meet somewhere around 9:30 AM for coffee before the insanity begins. My gym is at 3rd and Market St. so I know that area of the city pretty well. The location is also very close to a BART and Muni train station (Montgomery Station). Let me know what you think.
