Hi

I am pretty new to Leica cameras ..i have brought v-lux camera couple of days and wants to purchase filters for this, the purpose of filters for me is

(1) To protect camera lens from dust...etc

(2) Compatible uv-filter

Any other filters which would serve camera practically would be appreciated...i live in NJ,which would be pretty cold and what else do i need to buy to manitain camera.

Thanx in advance.

Regards

Shashi

Hi

Thanx Pete for your response, incidentally ive brought Tiffen uv filter 55 mm..looks like its good..is it that i can keep that on lens all the time or only under too bright and sunny conditions does it make sense?. In other words will it can negative efefct if i use it indoors or low light conditions?

I also bought a V-Lux 1 a few days ago (not my first Leica, though).

The filter I use on all the lenses is a UV-haze MRC from B+W. That is a multi-coated filter from Schneider, the same company that produces the glasses for the Leica filters. It is a general belief expressed in this Forum many times that, unless the filter is multi-coated, its use deteriorates the Leica lens quality.

However, to see the difference on pictures taken with lenses fitted with single-coated and with multi-coated filters, other factors must also be met as regards sharpness. In other words, with high ASA and low speeds, there will most probably be no difference at all.

Let us know your impressions from the camera. Here's a preliminary shot (that's the JPEG accompanying the RAW, untouched except for the resize).

Paul
