Bad News for European Kodachrome Fans

Not surprised. Kodak is fully digital for the most part by now...

Yes - see the article 'The future of Film' in LFI 5/2006 just out - German film consumption down from 197 million units in 2001 to 90 million last year and, I suspect, very similar trends in the UK, USA and mnost other countries. A friend who owns a photo business in Malaysia (Leica agents Anna Photo in Kuching) is also complaining about the fall off in demand for fim and minilab D&P.

Bad news indeed.

Doest that mean that all Kodachrome films, including those sold/used in Europe, have to be sent to the US for processing? How long would that take, and what is the procedure to be followed for shipment (including liability in case of loss)?

Guess it is yet another good reason to use Fuji Provia or Velvia :)

I only have 3 rolls of Kodachrome 64 left so I am not that bothered. It is not particularly special anyway and takes ages to wait for the slides to be returned.

I get better results with Velvia & Provia and a good turnaround with Fujilab UK and reasonable prices.
