andybarton Posted September 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) They seem to make interesting video cameras, and their name has been mentioned wrt rangefinders. I've never heard of them, before. The RED DSLR: A Wish List | Gadget Lab from Wired.com
Advertisement Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hi andybarton, Take a look here OT: Anyone know anything about "Red"?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted September 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2008 Very powerful new name in video. Flexible, modular, affordable cameras that write RAW. RED / Index If you, like me, aren't up to snuff on video, check out Michael Reichmann's excellent introduction: Understanding Video. Additional info referenced by the LuLa article: Analog Meets Its Match in Red Digital Cinema's Ultrahigh-Res Camera. Summary of what's up with RED, from same source: The RED One camera, introduced in 2007, represents a revolution in video production technology. It is a 4K camera (meaning that it has 4,000 pixels on its wide dimension) using a 24.4 X 13.7mm 12 Megapixel sensor. Yes, 12MP. And, it produces raw video, one of the few cameras under $100,000 that does. There's much to be said about the RED One, and a bit of web research will show that it has taken independent film producers by storm.
adan Posted September 3, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2008 I think Leica should adopt RED'S customer service dictum: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude" Should clean out some of the riff-raff (Wink!) Cool modular design that reminds me of the original Nikon F system - swap finders, grips, mounts, memory, lenses to build a studio camera or a field camera or a small hand-holdable all based around the same imaging core. peter_n Posted September 3, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2008 Can seem very inexpensive at first glance but the modular design soon takes care of that! I work with an indie film maker and the indies are wild about this camera.
