75 Summilux 1st Version

There are a total of 4 type of Summilux 75 since their launch in late 70s.

Type 1 is detachable hood while 2, 3 and 4 are build-in hood.

Type 1 and 2 are from Canada while type 3 and 4 are from Germany AFAIR.

Though the lens optical structural formula of all types appears to be the same,

the coatings are ever changing from '70s to their latest incarnation in 2006/07.

Early coating are amber or golden/yellowish purple while laters are multi-color

multi-coatings. From my personal experience in using these lens, earlier types

give finer color and tone scale on the warm side while later types give relatively

higher contrast. All types should be very well flare resistant.

Apart from coating, there are also some mount and weight change along its near 30

years of production. As a matter of fact, Leitz kept changing all these (sometimes

even glass types) in their practice of long life lens production.

Personally I prefer the rendition of earlier canadian types.

My 2 cents.
