Tom Barry Posted August 26, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like the D-Lux 2, but looking at the viewfinder in bright light leads me to make mistakes in composition. Also, I can hold a polarizer in front of the lens, but would prefer to have a holder. On Monday, my wife and I met relatives in Fredericksburg, TX, west of the capital, and while they shopped, I tried to take pictures of this German-founded community. I had some success, but kept thinking there ought to be some solutions to the viewfinder and polarizer holding problem. Next day, I realized I had Part One of the solution in my desk - my old Iston 4X slide-viewing loupe. I hung it around my neck and went outdoors in the sun. When I held the camera up, I couldn't make out much in the LCD. But when I used my left hand to put the loupe to the LCD and put my eye to the loupe - all was clear! I could see most of the screen, and despite some pixelizing from the 4X magnification, I could both compose and focus. Then I checked the Internet and found that Cokin makes a holder for A size filters for compact cameras that don't have threaded lenses. It screws to the tripod mount. I ordered one. I think I will be able to use filters and the loupe in bright light now. That little Leica lens in the D-Lux 2 is worth the trouble. I wants to take great pictures.
