Xmas Posted June 26, 2011 Share #41 Posted June 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wonder how well it performs at full aperture? Leica has a reputation for designing its lenses to perform well at that setting. It would reduce the fiddly nature of settings on those early lenses provided you could select appropriate shutter speeds. Hi David Wide open it has a sharp area out to 6cm and then things get less sharp gradually, but you may not notice this much hand held with 400 ISO. Later ones are bit better but similar signature. Lots of Leica photos were taken with them... You need the hood with any - even the coated ones or the post '94 modern /2.8. If you have one of the early (A36 filter) ones you can get a ring which fits inside the filter or hood and allows the sperture to be adjusted by slacking the clamping screw rotating and then tightening the clamping screw, the ring is a spring fit inside the filter or hood http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/67369-voola.html keeps your sic fat fingers off the glass. The glass and coatings are pretty soft carry a blower bubble and dont clean... Noel
