Thomasru Posted August 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Leica Forum Experts:D I have started another thread so I'm sorry if you have seen this in a thread by mark_a_h that I posted on today but I cannot find out how to remove that one:confused: Anyway I turned my D2 on today after a few weeks and got a terrible shock. I have just a totally out of focus shot. Everything is set at Auto and though the focus confirmed light comes solid all I see in the viewfinder and also on the back screen is as below: I did recharge the battery and take out the card before taking this so not sure if I have done anything wrong or am I suffering from sensor failure. Help and feed back would be appreciated. Thomas R

Thomasru Posted August 21, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 21, 2008 Hi Andy Thanks for your reply. This is original sensor. Camera was first purchased in July 2004 , I'm the second owner, I've had it since 2005 and I have original purchase receipts. ThomasR:D

wparsonsgisnet Posted August 21, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2008 Leica will replace the sensor at no charge. Contact your dealer, or Leica.
krabat Posted August 21, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 21, 2008 Well, if the camera was first purchased in July 2004, then it surely has the failing sensor. And your image looks typically for the failure. So, send your camera to the Customer Service. They will replace the sensor for free. I have heard that the sensor fails in particular in a warm and humid environment. Best regards, Peter.

Hi Peter Well I wouldn't say it was warm ! its certainly been wet:mad: as anyone from the UK will testify. But thanks for all the advice, guess its off to Leica service and see what they say. wparsonsgisnet Posted August 21, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 21, 2008 When my D2 went in for the sensor replacement, the round trip at the dealers was just over 6 weeks. I ended up paying for an autofocus adjustment and a new top plate, but the sensor replacement and CLA were free. It will come back with a 1-year warranty.
