12504 hood without markings

Recently, I bought a black Summilux 35/1.4 no. 2221***. It's an early one with an infinity lock. It came with it's shade (hood), the well known 12504, that can be separated in two parts and can be loaded with a filter. Strangely, this hood has no engravings or markings of any kind. I've never seen one like this before.

Does anyone know if it's normal for the early Summilux 35's to have a shade (hood) like this?

There is no mentioning of one without engravings in Lager and also some other sources I checked. I guess it may still be possible that one was indeed offered, or yours may be repainted or something.

Thank you, Ivar, for your reaction. I've also checked my sourcebooks (quite a lot) but I've seen no 12504 without markings. The hood is definitly not overpainted, it's a normal black anodized 12504.

I presume it's possible that the first 12504's supplied with the lenses were not marked, but I am not sure of that. Therefore: has anybody ever seen a 12504 without markings?

I am absolutely sure it's a Leitz product. It's finish perfectly matches that of the lens. I have worked with Leicas since 1971, so I do have experience with Leitz products. I also do have a massive collection of Leica gear myself.

So: did anyone ever seen a 12504-shade without markings?
