Robert Ridyard Posted August 15, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wear glasses and find it increasingly difficult to use a 35 mm lens on my M4-2. I can't see the whole frame, so it is difficult to compose pictures accurately. Would a 0.58 viewfinder solve this problem?

Hello Robert, This is one of those intensely personal questions that is very hard to answer. For instance I too wear spectacles much of the time and am happy with my M7 .85. BEFORE you change cameras may I suggest that you consider changing spectacles - the size and shape of the frame can have quite an impact - or even looking at contacts? If you are otherwise happy with your Leica this would seem to be a lower cost option than the sort of switch you are considering. Guest rontr6 Posted August 15, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2008 Hi Robert You can buy a little lens cheaply on Ebay from China that converts a M6 0.72 viewfinder to 0.58, I found it quite handy with a 28mm lens on the M6, don't know whether it fits the viewfinder of the M4 though?? lars_bergquist Posted August 16, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2008 What is your eye problem? I am badly presbyopic (my 72 year old eyeballs are fix-focused beyond the horizon) so I use quite strong progressive specs with synthetic lenses—and I have an M4-P and I have no problems with the 35mm frame, only with the 28! I did experiment with correction lenses in the eyepiece, but rejected them. A secondhand Leica 28mm finder cured the 28mm problem. Finding the right relative position of the eyepiece and specs, to show frames and rangefinder patch sharply, comes instinctually.
