Advertisement Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Hi DES, Take a look here Conversion Help!!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted August 10, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2008 Just what do you mean "Reasonable Images" " In color"? Do you get reasonable B&W images? And just what do you mean "Reasonable"? Are the colors off? Or do all the color images look out of focus, Not as sharp as your B&W images? If it's the color then it could be the scanner, the developing, your monitor isn't calibrated correctly or a combination of all 3. Please post one of these un-reasonable images. If it's the focus then you may need to have your M3 CLA'ed.
DES Posted August 10, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 10, 2008 Hi Shootist...You got me ...I did not explain myself very well.!!! The monitor and scanner are fine..my b&w conversions are fine.. in general the clarity is fine, it is the colour that seems very poor. I have worked on a few and they have come up better but not to an acceptable standard..I just wondered if I was missing something and thought you guys woulkd know. Des... I understand that scanning images is a compromise, but this is not good.
adan Posted August 10, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2008 1. are those reddish/reversed shadow areas red in the slides (I've seen it happen - usually weak or failing E6 color developer) - or just in the scan. Check the slides against a really bright light before answering. 2. What scanner, and what settings? Very unusual to see white dust specks/threads in a slide film scan
Shootist Posted August 11, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2008 Do you have your scanner set for Slide (Positive) Film? And not Negative film. I believe it is a scanner setting or developer problem like Adan states. Just how does the slide look when viewed in bright light.
andybarton Posted August 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 11, 2008 I always scan slides as "images" in Vuescan. Works much better than scanning as a positive.
