RAWdog Posted August 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well is the official answer, at least, concerning my situation in the US. I received a phone call this morning from a very kind person in the Leica USA office. Part of our discussion here in the Leica Customer Forum was based on my believing that my registering the camera with Leica's website constituted the "official" registration of the warranty. My question in the previous fthread was, is the on-line registration offical, or is the mail-in card the official registration, as it evedently states on the warranty card. Leica USA said that my registering on-line with Leica doesn't affect US registration, because their database is in Germany and they use it for their own purposes. Whether for capture of customer information or for actual warranty issues, I don't know. The Leica USA person didn't know either. Another world. For a US purchased Lecia camera, the mail-in hard copy of the warranty needs to be mailed in. No other method is accepted. Therefore the new owner of the camer will have full warranty rights (with-in the time frame of the purchase) when they mail-in the card. The serial number of the camera I have now is not in the Lecia USA database. Whew! By-the-way, Kenneth e-mail me at home this morning and explained his misunderstanding. Thanks all. RAWdog Posted August 7, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted August 7, 2008 Kenneth asked for me to post this e-mail he sent to me this morning. ------- HI- I am truly sorry for any misunderstanding that was perceived during the discussion appertaining to your camera. As with forums in general one starts by responding to the original poster and the thread is then intercepted by someone else with their own agendas and it is all too easy to loose sight of the original issues. Please don't judge the forum on one experience you will be more than welcome I am sure, and, once having had a Leica I am sure it will not be too long before you find gainful employment and you are posting to tell us of your new Leica acquisition. On a slightly difference point, our daughter is after a digital camera, where is yours posted and how much are you asking kind Regards Kenneth Cooke -------- I had no idea that the question I thought was basically a simple one, and one directed to get a possible answer from an experienced group, would cause such a stir. Andy, I one point I was embrassed enough to wish I could close down the thread. It ended well though. Thanks again. David
