spylaw4 Posted September 25, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to an email just received the Beta 4 of Lightroom is now available for download! It appears that the feature set on both Win and Mac versions is now the same. I quote from the email: Beta 4 is our biggest milestone to date, with several enhancements and additions, including the achievement of full feature parity between the Windows and Mac OS versions of Lightroom. No matter which platform you prefer, you can now bring the full power of Lightroom beta to your photos. Lightroom Beta 4 also features: Groundbreaking changes in the way tone curve adjustments are made and displayed, giving you the highest quality results in an interface that's easier to use than ever before. More streamlined and elegant user interface - We've made several changes to the look and feel based on your feedback in the earlier beta releases. Customizable interface - You can now display only the controls you want to be visible. Precision white balance selection tool Facility to easily rename and convert files to DNG after they've been imported to the Lightroom library Increased interaction between Lightroom library organizational structure and the underlying file system Filter and search presets to more quickly find the photographs you want Better performance and improved interface for the Web module features Develop control improvements based on community feedback, including comments from the Pixmantec user community (welcome!) Now I know what I'll be spending my time on today!

andybarton Posted September 25, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2006 I have just had a 5 minute play with Beta 4 before I really must leave to go to work. Apple have some serious work to do to Aperture to get anywhere close to this Beta, from what I can see. I look forward to trying it out properly later. This Beta would pass for a shipping product if it came from Redmond, that's for sure (although it wouldn't be as functional...)
Guest stnami Posted September 25, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2006 Enjoyable to use but a shitty photo still looks like a dog's breakfast just quicker to make. But I have a bias towards Lightroom, the application suits me so my opinion doesn't matter except the dog's breakfast part
jrc Posted September 25, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2006 There's a note over on Luminous Landscape warning that the Mac version may have a bug involving the rendering after a crop. http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12300 JC
