andybarton Posted August 5, 2008 Share #21 Posted August 5, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Vuescan doesn't simulate film types, but it does have some in-built settings for various films. I have to say that if there could be one thing that Ed Hamrick could do to Vuescan to improve it, it would be to increase the number of films (to bring them up to date), and improve the standard starting points for various film types. That said, IMHO, it's the best scanning software out there, and easily the best supported. It provides functionality to scanners that the manufacturers' software doesn't and is the only way that some older scanners will work with new OSs. The Pro Version is an absolute bargain. stunsworth Posted August 5, 2008 Share #23 Posted August 5, 2008 I think the film types are what were available when the old Photo CD format (remember those) was current. I still have a couple of Photo CD disks lying around somewhere. I've just swaped from PC to Mac, and of course my old serial number worked on the new machine. Thank you Ed! I didn't have to install any of the Nikon drivers, Vuescan recognised the scanner straight away.
