Al Rodin Posted July 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I want to buy a Kiey Jupiter 8 lens for my M6. There are offered two kinds of lenses. One with M39 mount and others are declared as 'for Kiev/Contax'. Can I use the Kiev/Contax type on my M6 too? Thanx
Advertisement Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Hi Al Rodin, Take a look here Jupiter 8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bavaricus Posted July 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2008 No you can't! You can mount a M39 by using a fitting adapter. Th Contax-Monut ist totally different.
brianv Posted July 20, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2008 You also need to be aware that the J-8 in LTM is still a 52.4mm lens, slightly longer than the Leica standard. The lens might not focus where the RF of the Leica indicates. You can adjust the shim of the lens to optimize it for close-up/wide-open performance. I use a J-3 and a J-8 that have been shimmed for the Leica.
peter_n Posted July 20, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2008 Welcome to the forum Al! If you buy the lens from Russia or Ukraine and you live in the US Fedka will adjust it for you. If you get a good J-8 the optics are fantastic, the problem is that buying one is really a crap-shoot. Look for a silver one late 50's early 60's, there seems to be a higher yield from that era.
