HWD Posted July 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I mostly shoot large format landscapes. Two and a half years ago I started working for a military contractor in Iraq/Afghanistan. We work 7 days/wk--12 hours/day and then the company gives us 2-3 weeks off with paid airfare to anywhere in Europe/Asia. I store my large format equipment in the Andalucia region of Spain. Knowing that I would be attempting some street photography and candid portraits in the beautiful cities and villages of Europe, I picked up a Mamiya 6 rangefinder. I have so much enjoyed this genre that I recently bought the Leica M8 with numerous Leica and Voigtlander lenses. Rangefinder work is brand new to me along with street/candid portraits. Here is my question: Any pros/advanced amateurs out there willing to offer (obviously at a price) a workshop centering on using the rangefinder/Leica M8? I am aware there is so much more to producing strong images than merely attaining technical expertise with the equipment. However, I would like using the equipment to become second nature and I am far from that. Focusing quickly, zone focusing, understanding depth of field issues with the different lenses etc. are issues I would like to have a better command of while using the M8. I will be in Portugal the last two weeks of August of 2008 and back in Spain for my R and R's during 2009. Any names, email addresses or phone numbers of pros/advanced amateurs who could provide this service would be appreciated.
