Flash Photography w/ L1 and DMW-FL360

Hey, just got my new and first ever flash gun and have been playing around with it a lot to see what it can do. What I havn't figured out yet is how to take shots where the flash goes off first and then the shutter is delayed... (mode generally set on built in flash at night). If anyone has any tips please let me know.

 

Also this a massive long shot but there was someone asking about flashguns a few months back (pretty sure on this board) and showed a picture of the kind of photos they were trying to take, was a night time shot with a kid eating ice cream maybe seaside, light was comming from behind them... very good shot - but can't find the photo anywhere. So if my vauge description triggers anyone's memory can you post a link to that thread?
