ibogost Posted July 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Honestly, how often can one person lose a lens cap? Almost daily it seems. The problem is finding replacements. Does anyone know where all varieties can be easily purchased? This time in particular, I'm looking for the soft lens hood cap for the 28/2.8 Elmarit. I'm not sure if it's the same as the 35/2 Summicron cap, which I can find, but that's the only one I see for sale.

If your Elmarit is the current 28 asph., then it is the same as the 35/2 Sumicron cap. Andy

wparsonsgisnet Posted July 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2008 IB, an alternative you might consider is a metal, screw-in lens hood. Several M8 users, who also use filters, are using metal lens hoods and no cap. The filter protects the front of the lens. I do this with a CV 15, and Leica 24 and 35 'lux-a. They go in the bag without a cap.
ibogost Posted July 12, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted July 12, 2008 This is a good suggestion; I think I'll try it.
marknorton Posted July 12, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 12, 2008 In a similar vein, I wonder how many people here use the leather cases the lenses come in, or the bijou cases for the Frankenfinder, the Macro Adapter or the old 21-24-38 finder. I have a box of the things, never used, except perhaps to send the lenses back to Leica. Waste of time, money and effort IMHO.

It's a pity really because those cases are really nice quality. My lenses are sitting in them right now, but for the first time ever. Caused when the MP body went back to Leica for a long time.
