PaulL Posted July 8, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ive been happily useing the scanner with pretty good results useing the software that came with it. Recently I had some 35mm film processed that came back in strips of 6 frames, up too now id been scanning 4 frames. The strips are perfectly cropped but when trying too acquire the thumbnails the scanner complains that there are more than 6 frames and wont scan. i tried setting the software to its default settings, tried a differant strip but no luck. Any ideas?
Advertisement Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Hi PaulL, Take a look here Nikon Coolscan V wont scan strips of 6 frames. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted July 8, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2008 Strips of 6 should be ok - I have the same scanner. My first step would be to download the trial version of Vuescan and use that to try and scan one of the strips, just to see if there really is a problem with the scanner. Any ideas? I would try uninstall and reinstall before I used Vuescan. I don't know if things have changed with Vuescan but I bought the pro version of it and the author made so many changes in the updates that it stopped working for me and a whole lot of other purchasers. The author was so arrogant that he refused to answer any emails that had any spam blocking. I finally gave up trying to get it working and took it off my computer. This was about a year ago so hopefully he has come around after all the complaints. My Coolscan suddenly stopped scanning B&W and so far I haven't been able to get it fixed but it does scan strips of six ok.
Irishimage Posted July 8, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2008 I'v never had this problem with the Nikon software on my Coolscan V but just recently i'v changed over to VueScan and would surgest you try that out as it could just be a software problem you have. Try downloading the free trial version of VueScan and see if that works, I don't have the link but i'm sure any search engine will take you to their download site. Best of luck. Now it seems to be working.. well the first strip is being processed.. I will look into the vuescan software though..
