Dantist Posted July 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Tried this day to send an email to Leica customers' service in Solms : m8.support@... Delivery failed Tried again to cs@... Delivery failed Tried at last to E.. .Luh@... without attached documents. Succeeded The documents (dng file plus some more) were altogether 18 MB. I use Gmail (this is far out of my mind to be any spamming...) Does Leica cannot receive dng files ? Haven't I got the right email address for the customers' service ? Thanks in advance for all kinds of help on this matter Michel

bill Posted July 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2008 Hi Dantist. If they have any sense they won't accept emails with 18mb of attachments. I work for one of the biggest software companies in the world and we don't accept anything over 1mb. Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted July 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2008 What Bill said It may be best to contact them first and ask if they have an address that such large files can be sent to. Many email servers will automatically reject large attachments as they're one of the ways spammers try to bring a server to its knees.
rob_x2004 Posted July 5, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 5, 2008 Ok now that I am no longer blinded and I have read Bill and Steves responses I guess we need an alternative point of view. Can I suggest you upload the eighteen meg file into this thread so that we can get a perspective on your problem and initiate and engage in balanced discussion. Dantist Posted July 5, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted July 5, 2008 Thanks Bill, Steve and Rob Can't upload the 10 MB file because I don't yet know where to lodge it, but you will understand easily with the following screenshot. I didn't used the sensort cleaner VisibleDust - Product Page long time before a trip to Norway (countryside, mountain...) from 20/06. Never touched the sensor with it. Didn't carry nor have it with me when the stripes appeared on the pics, dated 24/06 for the first time. I try to understand what happened, if the sensor is sensitive to dry hot or changing weather conditions, if Leica has been already warned with this... This is not a question of death or life for me, but it is located on the upper part of the frame, and it pops up to all pictutres with clear sky, or monotones... Quite boring, isn't it ? By the way : Gmail is really useful for large files (up to 20 Mb). I have been to a printing company, didn't have to carry my external HD, just opened my email account. I often transfer original DNG files to friends. Anyone can enjoy this opportunity
NZDavid Posted July 5, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2008 If possible, it's a good idea to break up the 18MB into several max 2MB each, and alert them first. But here's a really good free service for sending large files: YouSendIt - Send large files - transfer delivery - FTP Replacement.
