Advertisement Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Hi jc_braconi, Take a look here Leica--focusing on profit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
offshore Posted July 1, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 1, 2008 Very interesting video. 1000 M8's per month and 500 film cameras per month. Leica better concentrate on making a profit because they certainly can't keep up in numbers. The comments Dr. Kauffman made regarding the type of user Leica see's their cameras going to was also interesting.
NZDavid Posted July 2, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2008 Interesting video, and good to hear from Dr. Kaufmann himself. Leica photographer Jim Rakete also interesting. Key points: Leica catching up with digital technology, M8 first digital camera made in Germany, expensive, target market want something "special", cheaper Panaleicas for mass market, company restructuring and de-listing from the Stock Exchange. Not sure about that last one; German business world does not seem to be as stock-market oriented as other countries. Good luck to Dr. Kaufmann! An even more proactive, customer-focussed marketing strategy would be welcome.
